Developing a New Strategy for Delivery of Neural Transplant Populations Using Precursor Cell Sprays and Specialized Cell Media

Neural precursor/stem cell transplantation therapies promote regeneration in neurological injuries, but current delivery methods have drawbacks. These include risks with surgical microinjection (e.g., hemorrhage, embolism) and high loss systemic delivery/passage through fine gauge needles. Aerosolized offers significant benefits including rapid minimally invasive delivery, ease of to end users. To develop this approach, it is necessary prove that 1) aerosolization does not detrimental effects on transplant cells 2) suitable media can be identified support delivery. achieve these aims, are sprayed using a commercial spray device or stored Hibernate-A, CO2-independent nutrient solution. Histological assessments consist viability analysis, immunocytochemistry, EdU labeling. It shown major neural precursor population—oligodendrocyte (OPCs)—survive following aerosolized retain their capacity for proliferation differentiation (key repair function). Hibernate-A OPCs’ survival without specialized maintenance conditions, no impact fate. considered data supports the concept novel class advanced medical devices facilitate transport populations therapy.
